Why take an NATD dance examination ?

Examinations give dancers a clear goal and a meaningful way to recognise their progress. Preparation develops commitment, attention to detail and confidence under pressure. At SDA, pupils are entered when their teacher believes the timing is right; examinations form part of a broader dance education that also values enjoyment, creativity and performance.

Before your first class.

Are examinations compulsory?

No. Dancers can enjoy classes and progress without taking an examination. Teachers will discuss suitable opportunities with families.

Readiness is determined by the teacher based on technical standard, knowledge, attendance and preparation.

Examination and related costs are normally separate and will be explained before an entry is confirmed.
